Guide Gratuity
At the end of the retreat, your retreat leader will collect cash (U.S. dollars) from all retreat participants as a gratuity for local guides. You may provide the amount that feels right to you; we recommend offering $40 - $60 dollars cash, which will be shared between the guides. Your retreat leader will place the group's gratuity inside a thank-you card and present it to the guides on everyone's behalf.

Your deposit is fully transferrable to any other trip or partially refundable until March 12, 2024. Trip payments are non-refundable after this date. We recommend travel insurance with "Cancel for Any Reason" for this reason. See full terms and conditions at: https://runwildretreats.com/retreat-booking-terms-and-conditions/
FAQs
1. Why is this retreat more expensive than some other group trips in the Canadian Rockies?
This retreat is more than just a group running tour; our retreat leaders are experts in mindful leadership so that they can support you on a journey that may be personally transformational. Plus, in addition to the professional run guides, premium accommodations, wellness experiences and excellent meals, we included are pre and post-retreat resources that help you integrate your healthy habits into your life.
2. Are payment plans available?
Yes, if you want to pay in installments over time, we can set that up for you.
3. Do I have to have a passport to travel to Canada from the U.S.?
Yes, American citizens need a valid passport, passport card, or NEXUS card to enter Canada by land or sea. An enhanced driver's license (EDL) from Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, or Washington can also be used as proof of identity and citizenship for land and marine ports of entry. However, passport cards can only be used for land or sea travel between the United States and Canada, and are not accepted as an appropriate form of identification for international flights.
4. Can you accommodate my special dietary needs?
Yes. In your intake form, you can provide us with the details of your specific dietary needs, and we pass this information along to the restaurants at which we eat during the retreat. If you have food allergies or an extremely restricted diet, let us know and we will discuss the options for accommodating those needs with you.
5. Is it OK for me to come by myself?
Yes! Most of our retreat participants travel alone. You may book a private room or a shared room package, in which case we'll pair you with another solo traveler in a room with two beds.
6. Do I need to be worried about bears or carry bear spray?
There are bears in the parks. When appropriate your guides will be carrying bear spray and practice safe hiking (staying in groups). Your guides will brief you on what to do if you see a bear and will carry bear spray. You may have bear spray if you want, but it's not required.
7. I've never run trails before, is that OK?
Yes, you can participate in this retreat even if you've never run trails before, though it's still important that you have the fitness to run at least 8 miles comfortably on the road. Your retreat leader will provide you with mindful running instructions that will help you feel safe and comfortable on these trails.
8. How fast of a runner do I need to be?
You don't need to run a specific pace-per-mile to participate in this retreat, though you should have a base level of fitness that involves running at least 8 miles on the road. On the retreat, we take a lot of breaks to take photos, hydrate, enjoy the views, etc., so the pace is very relaxed and mindful. This also helps you conserve energy and not feel rushed at all.
9. I'm afraid of heights, can do I do these runs?
There are a few sections on some of the runs that involve brief moments of exposure to heights, including one high suspension bridge over a deep gorge. All of the trails and bridges are extremely safe, but if you are really concerned about heights, this retreat may not be the best one for you.
10. I'm coming with a friend; can we share a room together?
Certainly! If we have a room with two beds available, we can assign you and your friend together as roommates for the duration of the retreat.
11. I'm coming from sea level; should I be concerned about the elevation?
For this retreat, we'll be mostly between 4,000 - 7,000 feet in elevation. None of our runs take us up very high mountains; we mostly run in the valleys. The thinner air at this elevation will affect most people and so we adjust the run pace to accordingly so that you can still run at a comfortable pace. And your retreat leader will offer mindful breathing techniques that will also help you run at this altitude.
12. What if my flight is delayed arriving into Calgary?
If your flight is delayed and you arrive too late to ride with the group to Canmore, we suggest you use one of the many shuttle services (such as Banff Airporter for $77 CAD for one-way ride to Canmore) or a private car service that will take you directly to the Mountain House hotel in Canmore (more expensive, but very convenient). Or you can contact Banff Sedan (luxury), Calgary Airport Pickups. (Tip: Travel insurance can reimburse you the cost of a shuttle/taxi transfer due to things like flight delays, etc. Keep your receipts to file a claim later.)
